IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT LAVA ROCKS
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT LAVA ROCKS
For best performance and safety, always use lava rocks or compatible fire media (≥20mm) with the Zutto SP1. Fire media helps retain and distribute heat, stabilize flames, and reduce wind interference. Use without fire media is not recommended. Zutto, LLC is not responsible for damage or injury resulting from misuse or failure to follow usage guidelines (described in the included user manual).

The Zutto SP1 is a propane adapter kit for your Snow Peak Takibi Pack & Carry, or Campingmoon flat pack fire pit and grill (see fit notes below).
Easily and quickly convert your smoky wood burning flat pack fire pit into a convenient, wildfire-safe and smokeless propane campfire. Want to go for a late night hike? No problem, just shut the Zutto SP1 OFF and instantly turn it back ON when you return.
The conversion is fully reversible, no mods or tools needed. It's cheaper and more convenient to pack than the equivalent amount of wood bundles you would need for the same burn time. One 20lb tank of propane will provide enough burn time for a weekend's worth of camping* and then some.
The Zutto SP1 is compatible with all of your original fire pit external accessories, such as the cooking grate** or camp field oven, enhancing the cooking abilities of your fire pit.
Fit:
- Snow Peak Takibi Pack & Carry M, L and XL.
- Off-brand fire pits that look virtually identical to the Snow Peak Takibi with a side dimension of 13 inches or more, eg: Campingmoon, Bigfoot Bushcraft, TOAKS, Kings.
The Zutto SP1 will also fit into the Takibi S but it is not an ideal fire pit as the burner is fully exposed and there isn't much room left for lava rocks and the burner is more susceptible to wind. This is true for most fire pits that are 13" or less on their side. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

THIS IS NOT A TOY!
Please understand that this device can easily create a large flame. We are not responsible for the misuse of this device. Do not use indoors or under any sort of canopy. Read the instructions before first use. Use at your own risk.
If purchasing from outside of the USA, please check with your local regulations about gas use. We strongly recommend using the Zutto with at least a 10 lb tank (20 lb is ideal). Check your local regulations for tank availability and refills.

*Actual burn time is dependent on conditions and flame sizes. Read the FAQ below for more details.
**We don't recommend direct flame cooking because of the soot that is inevitably created by any "decorative" gas fire pits (as opposed to dedicated cookstove burners that are designed to make small blue flames instead of large yellow flames). Propane soot is easy to wipe off with a damp cloth.

FAQs

Are lava rocks really necessary?
The lava rocks help disperse the flames and make a huge difference in radiating and retaining heat. As a matter of fact, it makes such a difference that we never use our Zutto without them.
How long does a 20lb tank last?
The best answer we can give is "somewhere between 6hrs and over 15hrs." Though the burn time is obviously affected by the size of the flame, it is also affected by outdoor conditions and tank sizes. We don't recommend using a tank smaller than 20lbs as smaller volumes tend to drop pressure much faster. One 20lb tank would easily last for a few evenings of modest use, even with some daytime cooking. However if we were camping with others and wanted a larger, more "social" flame, we would bring two tanks (or ask someone to bring one too) so they can be swapped should that need to happen.
We have found that the best size flame is around 6" (15cm) in size.
Can the Zutto be connected to natural gas?
This is kind of a tricky question. We designed the Zutto to burn efficiently with propane, which has a much hotter flame than natural gas, is much heavier and benefits from the air mixer component. That last piece is unnecessary for natural gas and could mix too much air with the gas before ignition. For these reasons, we can’t recommend connecting the Zutto to natural gas.
We are working on a separate connector that could allow switching from one fuel source to another.
Which propane tanks are compatible?
The Zutto uses a standard QCC1/Type 1 connection (or LCC27) at the regulator end of the hose. Other countries might have different thread sizes and an adapter would be required for the regulator hose to fit on your tank. So far, people have been able to find adapters online.
Please refer to the following reference: standard connector use per country.
Please note that quick-couplings (also known as bayonet) don't seem to have adapters available.
So far, here are the adapters that we know work:

Here are a few of the accessories were recommend pairing with your Zutto. You can find the full list by clicking below.

Glass wind guard
We use this wind guard to help when it's a little breezy out. It works beautifully, sharpens the look of the fire pit and helps save gas! The guard is 14" x 14" x 6". It assembles very easily. Make sure you don't use the rubber feet included with the guard.

Ceramic hollow balls
These lightweight ceramic balls are great to add warmth and interest to your fire pit. The ceramic material will capture and radiate a huge amount of heat outward, compared to using the Zutto without. The flames will dance around the shapes and holes, creating even more visual interest. We found that 3" works well, however there are many MANY choices of ceramic add-ons you can put in your fire pit.

Propane tank cover
This is the propane tank cover that we use. It hides the ugly 20lb tank, makes it much easier to carry and also serves as a side table. Its pockets allow you to store hoses and lighters. We tried many other covers and this one seems to tick all the boxes. It's solid, has the platform above, gives you access to the regulator without having to open the top and has lots of pockets. This is a no brainer!

Propane tank gauge
We also like to use this propane gauge. It's handy for estimating how much gas is left in your tank of course, but where it truly shines is that it allows the red regulator knob to stick out from the propane tank cover bag (listed above). This makes it easier to adjust your flame size.

Long reach lighter
There are countless options for long nose refillable lighters of course, but our favorite is this mini "flame thrower." It might seem like over-kill, but it's actually incredibly convenient! You can light the Zutto safely from a corner, with a little distance. Plus, when you go back to using your Takibi without the Zutto, it makes lighting a wood fire much easier. We wouldn't camp without it!
good zutto fire pit.
I live in So Cal where firewood are ban in majority of the area that I camp at. This Zutto fire pit allow me to enjoy my snow peak takibi on campground anywhere and in my back yard it so awesome!! but the main STAR is gotta be the customer service they are so transparent with their item, Customer service is 10 star out of 5!!!
Wonderful product, and a fantastic company. Reached out to resolve an issue with the first batch of lava stones before I even knew of the problem; provided clear and frequent communications regarding it. I'm thrilled to see this level of care for their customers, even after the purchase. No regrets in the least and I would order again in a heartbeat, no hesitation.
I debated for so long about getting the Zutto SP1, but let me save you the time—just buy it! It’s super compact, absolutely beautiful, and I’ve gotten so many compliments on it. People keep asking me where I got it!
The only small issue was one of the tiny stones, but after I got back from a camping trip and checked my email, I found out they were offering to replace it with a new one. Amazing! Their customer service and follow-up were truly top-notch. I’m so happy with both the Zutto SP1 and the overall experience!
I hesitated due to cost last year, but the convenience and versatility is makes the purchase absolutely worth it. Was super useful to use in windy conditions where a real fire would not have allowed enjoyment of fire.
Regarding the lava rocks, I would prefer small ish round stones for cleaner usage has the lava rocks are dusty. Also, we can't fully bury the burner anyway in the rocks....at least that is my understanding from the directions.
