The Zutto SP1 is a propane adapter kit for your Snow Peak Takibi (or equivalent) flat pack fire pit and grill.
With the Zutto SP1, you can easily converts your smoky wood burning flat pack fire pit into a convenient, safe and smokeless propane campfire. The conversion is fully reversible, requiring no modifications to your fire pit and no tools to assemble. With the Zutto SP1, you have a fire within minutes of arriving at camp.
Not only will your camp be smokeless, it will also be much more convenient. The included regulator hose gives you instantaneous ON/OFF capability, meaning that nobody needs to stay up to ensure the wood fire is properly extinguished. Want to go for a late night hike? No problem, just shut the Zutto SP1 OFF and instantly turn it back ON when you return.
One 20lb tank of propane will provide enough burn time for a weekend's worth of camping* and then some. Not only is it cheaper, it's also much more convenient to pack than the equivalent amount of wood bundles you would need for the same burn time.
Additionally, the Zutto SP1 is compatible with all of your original fire pit external accessories, such as the cooking grate or camp field oven, enhancing the cooking abilities of your fire pit. The regulator hose allows you to fine tune the flame size for your next cooking endeavors.**
The Zutto SP1 includes lava rocks, which greatly improve flame dispersion, heat retention and heat radiation. It comes with a waxed canvas carrying bag for the adapter and another for the lava rocks, as well as a protective sleeve for the included connector. If you prefer, you can also fit the adapter within your fire pit carrying cases.***
We listened to your feedback and improved upon the previous design:
- The burner is custom designed to project flames and heat outward, with a higher hole density, providing a more natural looking flame that results in using a little less gas.
- The kit is now slightly smaller and lighter, meaning it takes up less space when you pack your gear, yet it provides the same amount of heat.
- The Zutto SP1 now fits the Takibi S.
- The tray can be used as a wrench to disassemble should the burner and connector be too tight after heat cycles.
- The burner and connector are custom made with flared sealing threads that are easier to manipulate than NPT threads.
- All kits now come with a carrying canvas bags.
The Zutto SP1 will fit all sizes of Snow Peak Takibi Fire & Grill fire pits (also known as Pack & Carry): S, M, L and XL.
The Zutto SP1 also fits flat pack fire pits that look virtually identical to the Snow Peak Takibi. Brands include Campingmoon (MT-035, MT-045 and MT-055), Kings, Bigfoot Bushcraft and other similar fire pits with a side dimension of 10” (25cm) or more.

THIS IS NOT A TOY!
Please understand that this device can easily create a large flame. We are not responsible for the misuse of the Zutto. Do not use indoors or under any sort of canopy. Read the instructions before first use.
Fire pit not included.
If purchasing from outside of the USA, please check with your local regulations about gas use. We strongly recommend using the Zutto with at least a 10 lb tank (20 lb is ideal). Check your local regulations for tank availability and refills.
Patents pending (18/515,045 & PCT/US23/80604)
*Actual burn time is dependent on conditions and flame sizes. Read the FAQ below for more details.
**We don't recommend direct flame cooking because of the soot that is inevitably created by any "decorative" gas fire pits (as opposed to dedicated cookstove burners that are designed to make small blue flames instead of large yellow flames). Propane soot is easy to wipe off with a damp cloth.
***This works for the larger versions of the fire pits, Takibi L and X or Campingmoon MT-055.

FAQs

Which flat pack fire pit does the Zutto fit?
The Zutto currently fits the Snow Peak Pack & Carry Takibi M, L and XL. It also fits other flat pack folding fire pits, such as the Campingmoon, Darche, King and Bigfoot Bushcraft fire pits (as long as they are over 13" x 13").
The Zutto comes with a carrying bag. Additionally, all its components (minus lava rocks) fit in the original carrying bag that came with your fire pit for the Takibi L, XL and for the M, though without the cooking grate. It also fits in the larger carrying bags of the other brands of fire pits as long as they are the larger sizes (such as the Campingmoon MT-045 and MT-055).
We are working on a version that will also fit the Snow Peak Takibi S.
If you are interested in a custom 18” version for a Takibi XL, please contact us directly to discuss details and pricing (we would recommend a larger propane source than the standard 20lb tanks).
Are lava rocks really necessary?
The lava rocks help disperse the flames and make a huge difference in radiating and retaining heat. As a matter of fact, it makes such a difference that we never use our Zutto without them.
Not all lava rocks are created equal. Landscaping lava rocks for instance are often full of moisture, not sized properly, have other rocks in them (which can be dangerous when heated). If your lava rocks were exposed to moisture, make sure you dry them off slowly with a low flame before cranking it up.
How long does a 20lb tank last?
The best answer we can give is "somewhere between 4hrs and over 15hrs." Though the burn time is obviously affected by the size of the flame, it is also affected by outdoor conditions and tank sizes. We don't recommend using a tank smaller than 20lbs as smaller volumes tend to drop pressure much faster. One 20lb tank would easily last for a few evenings of modest use, even with some daytime cooking. However if we were camping with others and wanted a larger, more "social" flame, we would bring two tanks (or ask someone to bring one too) so they can be swapped should that need to happen.
We have found that the best size flame is around 6" (15cm) in size.
Can the Zutto be connected to natural gas?
This is kind of a tricky question. We designed the Zutto to burn efficiently with propane, which has a much hotter flame than natural gas, is much heavier and benefits from the air mixer component. That last piece is unnecessary for natural gas and could mix too much air with the gas before ignition. For these reasons, we can’t recommend connecting the Zutto to natural gas.
We are working on a separate connector that could allow switching from one fuel source to another.
Which propane tanks are compatible?
The Zutto uses a standard QCC1/Type 1 connection (or LCC27) at the regulator end of the hose. Other countries might have different thread sizes and an adapter would be required for the regulator hose to fit on your tank. So far, people have been able to find adapters online.
Please refer to the following reference: standard connector use per country.
Please note that quick-couplings (also known as bayonet) don't seem to have adapters available.
So far, here are the adapters that we know work:

Here are a few of the accessories were recommend pairing with your Zutto. You can find the full list by clicking below.

Glass wind guard
We use this wind guard to help when it's a little breezy out. It works beautifully, sharpens the look of the fire pit and helps save gas! The guard is 14" x 14" x 6". It assembles very easily. Make sure you don't use the rubber feet included with the guard.

Ceramic hollow balls
These lightweight ceramic balls are great to add warmth and interest to your fire pit. The ceramic material will capture and radiate a huge amount of heat outward, compared to using the Zutto without. The flames will dance around the shapes and holes, creating even more visual interest. We found that 3" works well, however there are many MANY choices of ceramic add-ons you can put in your fire pit.

Propane tank cover
This is the propane tank cover that we use. It hides the ugly 20lb tank, makes it much easier to carry and also serves as a side table. Its pockets allow you to store hoses and lighters. We tried many other covers and this one seems to tick all the boxes. It's solid, has the platform above, gives you access to the regulator without having to open the top and has lots of pockets. This is a no brainer!

Propane tank gauge
We also like to use this propane gauge. It's handy for estimating how much gas is left in your tank of course, but where it truly shines is that it allows the red regulator knob to stick out from the propane tank cover bag (listed above). This makes it easier to adjust your flame size.

Long reach lighter
There are countless options for long nose refillable lighters of course, but our favorite is this mini "flame thrower." It might seem like over-kill, but it's actually incredibly convenient! You can light the Zutto safely from a corner, with a little distance. Plus, when you go back to using your Takibi without the Zutto, it makes lighting a wood fire much easier. We wouldn't camp without it!
Best thing that happened to Takibi
Looks & feels like a quality build. It perfectly fits the large size Snow Peak pack & carry fireplace. Can’t wait to give it a go. Thanks Zutto!
